Kathy McDonald
With three sons in high school, Kathy McDonald is what we like to call a “super mom.” Between hockey and lacrosse practices, homework, and games, Kathy experiences the joys and challenges of parenthood on a daily basis.
In addition to this first-hand experience, Kathy worked as a corporate trainer prior to raising her family and later, as a preschool teacher. She loves surrounding herself with kids, parents, and families! Kathy is a NYSPEP credentialed Parenting Educator, facilitating group parenting workshops for parents using Family Life Skills and Nurturing Parenting curriculums. She also coordinates the Early Head Start program here at the Consortium, as well as maintaining an EHS caseload, complete with weekly home visits and socializations. Kathy has been an avid reader her whole life and truly believes in the value of literacy and education for future success. Therefore, she has been busy leading early literacy workshops at neighborhood community centers through the Ladders to Literacy program and signing up Syracuse City infants, toddlers, and preschoolers for the Imagination Library!
Last year was a banner year-- Kathy celebrated her 5-year anniversary and was named Director of Education here at the Children’s Consortium.
