Facilitator Training

FacilitatorsThe Children’s Consortium trains community members, teachers, and parents to facilitate workshops for parents. When parents speak to parents, not as experts in the field of child development, but as someone who has “been there” with the same concerns and struggles of an often overwhelming job of parenting, a common bond of shared experience, hope and understanding develops.

Children’s Consortium Parenting Skills Workshops are led by trained facilitators. Facilitators are well equipped to lead workshops with diverse audiences by learning how to guide discussions in an adult learning model, being responsive to the needs of parents, and dealing with challenges and sensitive issues. Trainings are provided throughout the year for new facilitators, as well as a refresher for those already trained. During the one to two day training (depending on the curriculum) facilitators gain practical guidance and practice facilitating a workshop with trained facilitators. Facilitators are asked to facilitate at least one parenting workshop series during the year.
