Parenting Resources
As CNY's Parenting Resource, the Children's Consortium aims to provide up-to-date information for parents and caregivers. If you have questions, call 315-471-8331 to speak with a Certified Parent Educator. Staff members are available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to answer your parenting questions. You can also send us your questions electronically.
Programs
The Parent Academy at the Children’s Consortium is designed to be flexible around the needs and schedules of CNY parents. Workshops are effective because they provide opportunities for interaction among parents, practice of concepts and techniques learned, and individualized problem solving. Sign up for one session or a whole series!
Magic Bus trains family day care providers through a program of regular home visits and workshops to ensure high-quality child care for families.
Families in Transition: A Family Life Skills program provides support for families as theyovercome obstacles, develop strength and find stability.
Parents as Teachers provides parenting education to parents of children birth to age three with home visiting, group meetings, developmental screenings, and resource and referrals.
Ready, Set, Parent!, a partnership with Crouse Hospital, focuses on parenting, health and wellness, and literacy, while reducing the risk of child abuse and neglect.
21st Century Community Learning Center, a collaboration with Contact Community Services, works with students and parents from Lincoln Middle School for parenting education and case management.
Just for Teens, offered in four Syracuse High Schools, provides an informal, yet structured environment within which teen parents can build supportive relationships, share their problems and successes, develop parenting skills, and learn new techniques to replace those that might be harmful to a child.
Ready, Set, Go! is a preschool preparation program for 2 - 3 year olds to prepare them for their first-time separation from a parent or caregiver.
Drop In Play Center is a weekly chance for parents and children to meet other families and enjoy our fabulous playroom! Join us in singing and movement activities, art projects, and more.
